Feeding Habits: Herbivores – graze on grasses, reeds, and aquatic plants.

Social Structure: Live in herds of 20–100 individuals, with males and females often in separate groups outside of the breeding season.

Hunting Approach: Spot-and-stalk is the most common method; hunting near water sources or grazing areas is most effective.

Habitat and Environment

Preferred Habitat: Wetlands, floodplains, and grassy plains near water sources, such as rivers, lakes, and swamps.

Water Sources: Found near permanent water bodies, as they depend on water-rich vegetation.

Best Hunting Locations: Wetlands, reed beds, and floodplains; they prefer grazing on lush, moist vegetation.

Tracks and Trails: Cloven-hoofed tracks, often found near water or in muddy areas.

Signs: Look for fresh grazing areas, disturbed reeds, and droppings near water sources.

Ideal Hunting Times: Early morning and late afternoon, when they are most active.

Breeding Season: Mating season is during the rainy season (November–March), when they are more active and males become territorial.

Trophy Quality: Mature males have curved, slender horns that can reach 50–60 cm (20–24 inches). Look for thick, symmetrical horns as the sign of a good trophy.
